What Do I Need to Do to Take Care of My Electric Scooter?

As a new type of transportation, electric scooter is favored by more and more people because of the characteristics of environmental protection and energy saving. In order to avoid the impact of daily travel, the reasonable use and maintenance of E-bike is still very important. Let's check out how to maintain the five important systems of E-bike, which are: battery, charger, electric control, motor and brake.

1. Use and maintenance of battery
Battery is a consumable. With the progress of using, the mileage of the whole vehicle will gradually decrease. Under normal conditions (25 ± 5 ℃, normal road condition and load), the normal service life of the battery will end when the driving range of 36V electric vehicle is less than 15km or that of 24V Electric vehicle is less than 10km.

In order to ensure the normal use of the E-bike, the battery should be maintained as follows:

1. Choose high quality and matching charger.
2. It is strictly forbidden to use and store without electricity. After each time of using, no matter how much electricity is consumed, the battery should be fully charged in time when possible, which is conducive to extending the service life of the battery. If the battery is not used for a long time, please keep the battery in a fully charged state and charge it once a month.
3. It's good to get into the habit of battery discharge and pedal power control. Also it's good to start the motor as much as possible.
4. Pay attention to whether there is too high temperature on the surface of the battery box when the charger is charging the battery, and whether the charger indicator light switch or not. If it cannot be switched after 12 hours of charging, please check the charger and battery to avoid the battery expansion or damage caused by overcharge or charger failure.
5. The battery of electric bicycle should not be close to open fire or high temperature heat source. In high temperature season, it is strictly forbidden to directly expose the battery to the sun or charge it after exposure.
6. It is strictly forbidden to open the battery cover without permission to avoid danger and damage to the vehicle due to liquid leakage.
7. Deep discharge as regularly as possible. Conduct 1-2 times of deep discharge every month. The so-called deep discharge refers to the complete discharge of the first under voltage protection when riding on a flat road under normal load conditions, or complete discharge with a discharge meter and then complete charging, which will slightly improve the battery capacity.

2. Use and maintenance of charger
1. Don't ramdomly change the charger. Use the charger correctly according to the instruction.
2. Before charging, confirm whether the charger plug (positive and negative pole) matches with the vehicle battery socket. It is forbiddened to use non-standard and poor quality charger to charge the battery, so as to avoid unnecessary damage to the battery.
3. When charging, first close the power lock on the electric vehicle, insert the charger output plug into the charging socket, and then insert the charger input power plug into the power socket. After charging, unplug the AC power plug first, and then disconnect the charger and battery, so as to avoid short circuit or contact with electric spark due to reverse operation, which will affect the use safety.
4. Due to the heat generated by the charger during charging, it is recommended that the battery should be placed in an open and ventilated place for charging. It is strictly forbidden to cover the charger with foreign objects during charging, otherwise it is easy to damage the charger and battery, and even cause fire accidents. In addition, it is also strictly forbidden for the charger to be soaked in water or rain.

3. Use and maintenance of electric control part
1. When the electric vehicle is parked, don't expose to the sun or get wet for a long time to avoid operation failure caused by damage to the pneumatic parts in the controller.
2. When using the speed control handle, it is required to rotate and put it gently without force. For the 1:1 power brush model, it is better to use the cruise speed switch.
3. When riding in rainy days, try to avoid the switch and electrical connection plug-in getting wet to prevent electric leakage and short circuit.
4. The exposed contact (including triangle socket) is charged. It is strictly forbidden to touch both positive and negative poles with hands or metal objects at the same time.

5. Use and maintenance of motor
1. Whether it is a brushless motor or a brushless motor, it will produce certain mechanical noise (brush) or electromagnetic resonance (brushless) in the process of operation, which is a normal phenomenon. However, if the brushless motor produces abnormal vibration and sound in the process of operation, the power lock should be turned off and overhauled in time.
2. When the electric bicycle moves backward, it is normal to feel that the rear wheel is backward heavily. When the electric vehicle is pushing forward, it feels that the resistance is great. First, the power supply of the motor is disconnected (which can eliminate the positive resistance), and then the maintenance is carried out in time.
3. During the normal use of the motor, there is no need for special maintenance. At ordinary times, pay attention to check the state of the fasteners between the motor hub shaft end and the motor end cover. If any screw or nut is found to be loose, it should be tightened in time to prevent the vehicle failure caused by the broken lead wire and affect the use safety. (high speed motor with brush gear reducer usually needs to be lubricated with gear oil for more than half a year, except planetary gear reducer.)
4. When driving on the waterlogged road in rainy days, the depth of waterlogging should not exceed the lower edge of the electric wheel hub, so as to avoid motor failure due to water seepage.

5. Use and maintenance of brake and transmission system
1. First of all, the front axle, middle axle, flywheel, chain and other transmission parts of the electric bicycle should be inspected, wiped and lubricated regularly, just like the maintenance of ordinary bicycles, so as to prevent the normal use from being affected by corrosion or seizure. The motor is a maintenance free part for users. Generally, there is no need to scrub and lubricate the inside of the motor, but it is only maintained at the repair point in case of abnormal conditions.
2. Secondly, always check whether the power-off brake handle of the front and rear brakes is effective, especially the left brake handle of the rear brake. If the power-off fails, it is likely to damage the controller during use.
3. Thirdly, it is necessary to regularly check whether the front and rear brakes have good braking performance. In rainy and snowy days and downhill driving, pay attention to increase the braking distance, slow down and slow down, and brake in advance to prevent accidents.

These are the ways to maintain electric scooter's 5 systems. Hope they will be helpful for you.
