The difference between a brush motor and a brushless motor for electric vehicles

Electric vehicle motors are divided into two categories: brushed motors and brushless motors according to the energization of the motors; then, what is the difference between brushless and brushless motors for electric vehicles?

The difference in the principle of energization between the brush motor and the brushless motor of the electric vehicle: the brush motor is mechanically commutated by carbon brushes and the commutator, and the brushless motor is electronically commutated by the controller by the induction signal of the Hall element. 　

The energization principles of brushed motors and brushless motors are different, and their internal structure is also different. For in-wheel motors, the output mode of the motor torque (whether it is reduced by a gear reduction mechanism) is different, and its mechanical structure is also different.

1. The internal mechanical structure of common high-speed brush motors. This kind of hub motor consists of a built-in high-speed brushed motor core, reduction gear set, overrunning clutch, hub end cover and other components. High-speed brushed and geared hub motors are internal rotor motors. 　

2. The internal mechanical structure of a common low-speed brush motor. This type of hub motor is composed of carbon brushes, phase converters, motor rotors, motor stators, motor shafts, motor end covers, bearings and other components. Low-speed brushless gearless hub motors are external rotor motors. 　

3. The internal mechanical structure of common high-speed brushless motors. This wheel hub motor consists of a built-in high-speed brushless motor core, planetary friction rollers, overload clutch, output flange, end cover, hub shell and other components. High-speed brushless geared hub motors are internal rotor motors.

4. The internal mechanical structure of common low-speed brushless motors. This kind of hub motor is composed of motor rotor, motor stator, motor shaft, motor end cover, bearing and other components. Low-speed brushless gearless hub motors are external rotor motors.
